The Weta the Better: $8000 Steampunk Blunderbuss

This is the Unnatural Selector, a “Ray-Blunderbuss” and part of a special edition of 50 from the guys at the Weta Workshop. Weta is, if you remember, the effects and production house that kicked Skywalker Ranch’s ass when it took the Lord of the Rings and put onscreen the exact same pictures that were already in your head. The specs:

Made from metal, glass and rare Venusian Worm Oak (which under Earth conditions is surprisingly similar to resin), this mother of all Ray-rifles has articulated triggers, levers and switches and will be engraved with the owner’s name and individual edition number.

This $8000 steampunk gun comes by way of Wired senior editor Chris Baker, who likes to keep things succinct while adhering to the Wired House Email Stylesheet, which mandates all inter-blog mail is rendered as a YouTube comment:
